Morning Discipline Project

Overview

Reflecting on my college days, like many students in the arts, I too lived a life of staying up late under the guise of assignments. My grades were not bad, but my lifestyle was a mess. This bad habit, persisting through graduation, employment, and freelance work, has not been easy to change. Consequently, my health has deteriorated, possibly the rebound effect of long-standing poor habits.

I've come to realize that the most important things in life are health and satisfaction, and the only tool to achieve these is not money or fame, but habits. Habits are a precious asset, formed as we establish and adhere to life's principles.

In a capitalist world where everyone wants to be wealthy, many fail to see the essence and chase the shadow of money. However, the wealthy focus on enhancing their most significant asset—themselves. The challenge for many is that while earning money is a familiar experience, personal growth is often limited or temporary.

Thus, I asked myself: What principles make me true to myself, and what habits should they foster?

After much thought, my conclusion is: Living a life led by my principles is crucial. Such a life unfolds through self-directed time, preferably starting in the fresh morning rather than late at night. Owning my mornings helps me adhere to my principles, which in turn fosters a habit that will achieve wealth and dreams.

This doesn't mean I'm aiming for something as intense as the popular "Miracle Morning." I believe a typical morning routine, a "Typical Morning" or a "Discipline Morning," is sufficient.

Morning Discipline

Before-bed habits

1. Organize the next day's schedule.
2. Set an alarm on the phone for three hours before the official start of the day.
3. Leave the phone on the desk, not in bed.

Weekday morning habits

1. Go to the desk, turn off the alarm, and sit down.
2. Visualize the day's tasks and dreams.
3. Write a concrete sentence on the iPad about the ultimate life I aim to achieve.
4. Set a timer and read a book for 10-15 minutes with focus.
5. Go to the gym, stretch, run, do some strength training, and then start the day's agenda.
